Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Stu was very helpful and knowledgeable, guiding us through different photographic scenarios. Really enjoyed it and got a lot of useful things out of it.

This photo features the greater 'rhea' which is the largest of all South American birds and is related to ostriches and emus. These flightless birds use their long, powerful legs to outrun trouble. Although their large wings are useless for flight, they are used for balance and for changing direction as the bird runs.I took this photo on Saturday afternoon on 26th October whilst visiting Amazon World Zoo Park, situated in Newchurch on the Isle of Wight. Camera used was a Sony Alpha a7R V with

This heron is quite notoriously moody, but loves to soak up the sun in the morning. I?ve taken hundreds of photos of this specific one who is quite easily recognisable given his large size and striking character, even amongst most other males. This imposing bird is almost always puffing up his chest, ruffling his feathers and stretching his long neck in an attempt to impress the far smaller female one that frequently accompanies him on his morning outings.

Title or Location: Sun shining through the storm (at Ryde Fast cat waiting room)
Whilst waiting for the fast cat to arrive on a grey and wet dreary day, the sun suddenly broke through the storm clouds and created this wonderful shadow formation. At the exact time, we were all being filtered onto the fast cat, so it was a quick snapshot on my phone. I was pleased with the outcome and in black and white, I think it makes it more evocative. My late father was a photographer who loved monochrome. I think he's passing it onto me.
